Rug Remodel

As I settle in to my rental here in Vermont, there is still a long list of decor to-dos on my mind. The one main shared living space that needs some TLC is the living room. So far we have great stuff to work with - the big flat screen TV, my black ottoman, a comfy brown wood frame futon and Elly's adorable fishtank.

We are in the process of buying stuff for this room. We have discussed what color scheme we want to go with, and what king of look we want to achieve. We both like this look:

This IKEA Hacker actually handpainted that pattern on a simple green rug to achieve that look! Cheap and easy enough!

Seashell Crafts

I am looking forward to my summer family vacation on Cape Cod in July. Mike and I will drive down from Vermont for the weekend to spend some time with the Miller family! This is a cool idea for the shells that I will inevitably collect.

I decided to continue with my New England beach theme in my bedroom here in VT. It's very relaxing! I'll post pictures of my new layout once I finally unpack all the boxes and get everything situated. My amazing hand painted desk unfortunately didn't fit through my awkward size room entryway, so I have to figure out what to do with all the stuff I was storing in those drawers!

Ruffle Cake

Happy Wednesday ya'll! I've been seeing images of this ruffle cake design lately. I think I would definitely like this because I like cake icing, a lot. Sometimes when I'm sad (or happy, or hungry, or bored etc) I will by a tub of frosting and eat it straight from the container. Gross, right? Well here's a much classier and delicious looking way to get that icing fix!

Best Birthday

Yesterday I turned 23 years old! I also started my new job at Wyatt Investment Research in Richmond, VT. It was definitely a big day. After work Mike took me out to dinner at Leunig's Bistro on Church Street in Burlington. Based on last night's dinner, I would recommend this place to anyone, for any occasion.

Realistic Comfy Couch

I came across this room in a house tour at Apartment Therapy. It is in Adyta's lovely home. I love the entire house!!! WOW. I just love how comfy that couch looks.

Moroccan Style

I've been fantasizing about how to decorate the bone-bare attic I have in the new Vermont house. I've been dabbling around the usual inspirational sites and I kind of like the Moroccan theme. I like the low seating, the comfy pillows, the various colorful patterns, the bright tiles and the sweet hanging lights. I think it would work for attic lounge decor.

Desk Details

In a previous post I featured my desk nook makeover. I have to admit, the space rocks. I think the last thing I need to complete the look is a seat cushion. Also because my butt hurts after sitting in this rickety old chair for 5 minutes.

I found the chair at this junky basement furniture shop in Brighton where all the castaway crap goes to die. I walked in and saw it immediately. I shelled out a mere $10 for the painted piece, so I didn't feel as guilty when I had to take it away from its 3 other lookalikes.

I absolutely treasure my hand-painted lighthouse lamp that I bought from a tag sale for $1. As I plan my move to Vermont I have to decide whether I want to carry this beachy theme to my new apartment in Winooski. There isn't a nearby beach to draw inspiration from, and I am considering transforming the space to take on more of a chic rustic farmhouse look. This decision will come once I lug all my junk up there this Saturday and I see how it looks in my new place!

Tuesday's Apology

Yesterday was so busy that I didn't get a chance to post! My apology goes out to all my avid readers.

If you live under a rock then this may be news to you: Osama Bin Laden was killed on Sunday night. AKA Obama is a boss.

I spent the entire work day, 7 am - 5 pm, putting together and adding to this slideshow:

Ok, so that picture of Obama was never in the slideshow, but I don't want a picture of that ugly dumb Bin Laden guy on my beautiful blog.

Then I ran home, met with my summer subletter who signed the lease for my room in Boston for the summer (phew!), made a Mother's Day card for momma, and hurried off to Amy's birthday dinner! Little Amy turned the big 2-0 yesterday!

So that was my yesterday. Now it's today, and I have to get back to work because well, I am at work. My final day at TheStreet is May 13, then I am moving to Vermont. I want these final weeks here to be ballin' so that's what they'll be.
